My Bingo Memories

Strawberry Park in July of 2001. The

campsite!
Many of my childhood memories are filled with trips to Connecticut and visits to a campground called Strawberry Park. Our days were spent outside—riding bikes, competing in swimming and diving contests, roasting s’mores by the fire at night, and, most importantly, playing Bingo. It was one of the highlights of our camping trips. My love for Bingo grew so much that my mom began hosting games at my birthday and holiday parties. Although I’m not particularly lucky when it comes to winning, I’ve always enjoyed the excitement of the game.

I vividly remember the large crowds at Strawberry Park, filling every available space. The staff would hand out well-worn cards with little slides on top. We would play for hours—regular Bingo, stand-up-sit-down Bingo, four corners Bingo, and more. Stand-up-sit-down Bingo always gave me a rush of anxiety! Some of my fondest childhood memories are of playing Bingo with friends and family, filling at least five picnic tables with laughter and cheers. We had such a great time!

One of the things I was most excited to share with Stone was my love for gathering with friends and family to play Bingo. I looked forward to holiday versions, like Christmas Bingo and music Bingo! I truly wish I could have seen him win a game or two, as it was always a treat when someone in my family won—ice cream usually followed shortly after! Hosting this Bingo night means so much to me; it brings back so many wonderful memories.
